Howdy, dadageeks 💙

We’re thrilled to offer an extremely rare opportunity: a behind‑the‑scenes workshop with internationally acclaimed electronic musician and artist Gábor Lázár.

Gábor’s performances push the boundaries of club music, digital sound design, and computer‑based composition. In this special session, he will open up his personal Max/MSP performance environment — a custom patch he has been building, refining, and evolving over many years. This is a one‑of‑a‑kind chance to see how one of the most innovative voices in experimental electronic music constructs his sound, composes in the studio, and prepares for live performance.

This workshop functions as a hybrid artist talk + technical deep‑dive, shaped by active discussion with participants. Whether you're attending his performance on March 21st or you've followed his releases over the last decade, this is your chance to explore the musical and technological thinking behind his work.

What is this workshop about?

This session opens Gábor’s complete creative workflow, from studio composition to live performance. He will walk through his personal Max/MSP system — the instrument at the center of his musical practice — and unpack the processes that shape his signature sound.

Expect an open conversation guided by attendee questions, allowing the group to explore topics such as:

How Gábor structures his custom Max/MSP patch
Approaches to composition and sound development
Techniques for building performance‑ready systems
Insights into improvisation, control, routing, and shaping a dynamic live set
How long-term custom toolmaking informs musical identity

Participants will be able to ask questions throughout, making this workshop deeply interactive and tailored to the room’s curiosity.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is ideal for:
- Electronic musicians of all skill levels
- Max/MSP users and patchers
- Live performers and experimental artists
- Sound designers and producers interested in custom tools
- Anyone inspired by Gábor’s music, live sets, or creative philosophy
- Fans attending his Saturday performance who want the “director’s cut” version of his setup
No prior Max/MSP experience is required — curiosity is enough.

What to expect:

This is an in-person event at dadaLab with a conversational, exploratory format.

Expect:

Live demonstration of Gábor’s personal Max patch
Interactive Q&A throughout
Discussion of creative process, design choices, and musical context
A welcoming environment for artists, musicians, technologists, and fans

Class size is limited to keep the session intimate and allow space for questions.
