Paul Mason's Evening In Honour Of Jeff Beck

“Renowned guitarist Paul Mason brings his critically acclaimed ‘Evening in honour of Jeff Beck’ to Avoca Beach Theatre.

As far as guitarists go there are none quite like Jeff Beck. Described by Pete Townsend as “the Miles Davis of rock guitar” Jeff Beck's career is a masterclass in musical evolution and innovation. Beginning as a legendary guitarist with The Yardbirds in the mid-1960s, in which he took over from Eric Clapton and was later replaced by Jimmy Page , Jeff Beck helped shape the sound of rock 'n' roll with his groundbreaking use of the electric guitar. Over the ensuing decades, Clapton and Page took over the world with Cream and Led Zeppelin and together they are famously known as “the holy trinity”. The three ex Yardbirds guitarists that would go on to lead the British rock invasion across America in the 70’s. Jeff Beck is still to this day considered the true innovator out of the three. Unlike Page and Clapton, Beck continued to push the boundaries of what's possible in the realm of guitar playing, earning him his place as arguably the greatest guitarist in history.

Paul Mason stands as a living testament to Jeff Beck's profound legacy. A Wizard on the guitar he is able to playfully and sensibly capture the spirit of Jeff’s style and approach. In February this year Mason orchestrated an event dedicated to Beck that was graced by Sting and Dominic Miller. Also noteworthy was Paul’s pivotal role as star, producer and musical director for "The Music of Jeff Beck" held at her majesty’s theatre as part of the Adelaide International Guitar Festival.

A co-founder of the band Battlesnake, he has shared stages with Kiss and The Smashing Pumpkins and his decade-long role as Jessica Mauboy's lead guitarist underscores his versatility. Beyond this, Mason shines as a gifted songwriter and compelling solo artist.

During this event Paul will be showcasing a catalogue of Jeff’s most highly regarded works along with many other bespoke musical gem’s capturing the very essence of Jeff’s enduring impact. Paul is also extremely lucky to have a team of sensational musicians comprising Noel Mason on bass , Shannon Stitt on keyboards and Justin Duggan on drums.
