• What is Pave the Way?

  Started by Lynette Pathy and Anne Walters, Pave the Way is a community initiative that connects women across Darwin through relaxed mentoring walks. The idea is simple, women walking side by side, sharing experiences, supporting each other, and paving the way for new opportunities.

• What is a mentoring walk?

  A mentoring walk is an informal conversation that happens while walking together. Instead of sitting in a meeting room, participants connect outdoors, making it easier to talk, share ideas, and learn from each other.

• Who can join?

  Pave the Way is open to all women across Darwin, regardless of career stage, industry, or experience level. Whether you’re just starting out, changing direction, or have years of experience to share, everyone is welcome. We embrace an inclusive understanding of womanhood, welcoming trans women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people, and anyone who identifies as a woman in a way that is meaningful to them.

• Do I need to be a senior leader to be a mentor?

  Not at all. Mentors come from a range of backgrounds and experiences. If you’re open to sharing what you’ve learned and keen to support another woman’s journey, you can be a mentor.

• What is the matching process?

  We endeavour to match all applicants depending on the applicants’ interest and/or expertise area. There may be up to three (3) mentees per mentor.

• How long are the walks?

  Most mentoring walks will run for around 45–60 minutes, giving enough time for meaningful conversation while keeping it relaxed and accessible.

• Where will the walks take place?

  Walks will take place at safe, accessible locations around Darwin, such as local parks, waterfront paths, and other community walking spaces.

• Are the walks physically demanding?

  No. The walks are designed to be relaxed and accessible, typically around 45–60 minutes at an easy pace. The focus is on conversation, not fitness.

• How often will mentoring walks happen?

  The frequency will depend on interest, but the goal is to host regular walks throughout the year so women can continue building connections and learning from each other.

• Is there a cost to participate?

  Pave the Way is designed to be a free community initiative so that as many women as possible can take part.

• How do I sign up?

  Simply register your interest as a mentor or mentee, and we’ll be in touch with more details about upcoming walks and how we’ll match participants.
