PCC Food Forest Workshop with Aaron Sorensen 22/23 May
Event description
THIS IS A MEMBERS ONLY EVENT: YOU CAN JOIN PERMACULTURE CENTRAL COAST FOR JUST $20 HERE:Â https://permaculturecc.org.au/...
Aaron Sorensen from Elemental Permaculture impressed Permaculture Central Coast members with his fascinating Zoom presentation on food forests. We are excited to have him coming to our region to teach a two day workshop on designing and planting these highly productive perennial polycultures on the 22nd and 23rd of May 2021. Both days run from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Food forests are human made systems that use the same patterns that nature uses to build complex and abundant ecosystems. While they require time and energy to establish, they are ultimately highly productive with very little maintenance. The key to their success lies in good design.Â
During this two day workshop, Aaron will take us through the ecological fundamentals that underpin food forests including food webs, forest layers and native shelter belts. He will demonstrate the permaculture design process and share some successful case studies.
On day two, prepare to get your hands into the good earth as Aaron covers earth works, soil building, planting, propagation and pruning. We'll discuss the use of rainwater and grey water before moving on to the functions and needs of animals in these systems, how to provide habitat for them and how to protect plants from them.Â
Our venue for the workshop is Eagle Ridge Farm at Fountaindale (near Ourimbah University), where PCC members, Sandi and Andreas Pointner are establishing a thriving permaculture property. The address will be on your ticket and resent to enrolled students prior to the event.Â
Our days start promptly at 9.00am and include fruit for morning and afternoon tea, and a catered lunch which will be vegan and gluten free. Please let us know if you have any other dietary requirements.Â
Aaron is working with us to keep prices down so the event is affordable. Any profit left will be donated to Permafund, the charity arm of Permaculture Australia that provides small loans to get permaculture happening across the world. You may also choose to make a donation to Permafund when you purchase your ticket.
