Pomona & District Community House (PCH) Spring School Holiday Program 2023.

PCH aims to provide an accessible low cost vacation care program for Prep to Grade 6 age children.  The program is hoped to provide support for working parents/caregivers of the Noosa Hinterland.

      Day Sessions are:

      • 9:00am to 3:00pm.
      • Sessions are tailored for Prep to Grade 6 age children. Children must be able to follow the day's program structure. The day is designed to move children through three activity sessions with breaks inbetween.
      • Sessions are run by two professional facilitators.
      • Children are to bring their own water bottle, hat, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
      • Children are to bring a hat. Lunch will be eaten in the community garden (weather dependent).
      • No refunds will be provided with less than 48hrs notice.
      • Maximum numbers per session: 12 children.
      • All staff interacting with children hold blue cards.
      • All materials are provided for each session by PCH.

      Songweaving

Singer/songwriter Kate Marian Rose will share her knowledge of the song writing journey. Utilising nature as the 'muse', Kate will take the children on a collaborative journey through nature to encourage the creations of their own rhythm, melody, lyrics and storytelling.

The children's song creation will also be performed at Pomona Night of Lights by the Community Festive Choir.  This choir will commence rehearsals in mid-November and is open to all ages to participate in.  See the next edition of PCH What's On for more information.

      Pom Poms and Herb Baskets

Local fibre artisan Val is taking it back to the basics (you may of seen her delights displayed on the PCH stall at King of the Mountain). Children will learn how to make pom poms the old style way, and start their own French knitted caterpillars to decorate their herb basket gardens.

Then Tracie Sheehan, PCH Community Gardener, will take children on a journey into the world of herbs in the community garden.  They'll get to make their own herb basket garden to take home and keep growing.  As well as learn about some of the ways they can cook with the herbs they pick.
