Day 1: Getting Started with PDF Accessibility
Session Summary
In the morning, you'll learn the basics of PDF tagging by working alongside an instructor using a sample file. In the afternoon, you'll apply your new skills to a real-world document of your choice, with personalized guidance and support from the instructor.
Description
This session introduces the core features of Adobe Acrobat Pro used for PDF accessibility. You'll learn to use the Accessibility Checker to locate issues, apply the Auto-Tag feature, and work with the Touch Up Reading Order tool. The course also covers semantic markup and proper tagging techniques for links, lists, images, and setting essential document properties.

Identifying types of PDFs: tagged, untagged, and scanned
Tagging PDFs: applying semantic structure and correctly tagging links, lists, images, and document properties
Testing PDFs for accessibility and remediating common errors
Day 2: Advanced PDF Accessibility Concepts
Session Summary
In the morning, you'll dive into advanced PDF tagging techniques using a sample file with instructor support. In the afternoon, you'll apply those techniques to a real-world document of your choosing, with continued guidance from the instructor.

This advanced session focuses on making complex PDF content accessible, including tables, form fields, radio buttons, and checkboxes. You’ll explore advanced Acrobat features that streamline the remediation of longer or more complex documents. The course concludes with a demonstration of accessibility testing using both built-in and third-party automated tools.

Table accessibility: proper tag structure, header and row scope, and writing effective table summaries
Creating accessible form fields: best practices for text fields, radio buttons, and checkboxes, including time-saving features
Managing complex documents: using built-in tools to efficiently test and remediate accessibility across different conformance levels
