The area around Geraldton and Kalbarri, Western Australia, is home to a variety of fossiliferous outcrops including early arthropod trackways in the Siluro-Ordovican Tumblagooda Sandstone, as well as marine Permian, Mesozoic and Pleistocene outcrops.

A day will be spent visiting Permian and Jurassic sites around Geraldton with another day exploring the arthropod trackways and an Eocene locality in Kalbarri National Park. The journey to and from Kalbarri will also include stops at various sites of palaeontological interest, with details to be confirmed in due course. A reasonable level of fitness will be essential as most of the sites in Kalbarri National Park entail hiking over rough terrain. Note that some sites may not be accessible if it is too wet.

The field trip will be self-catered, with cabin accommodation equipped with complete cooking facilities. There are also plenty of dining out or takeaway options in Geraldton. Once the details have been finalised, a comprehensive guide will be distributed to participants.
