Peace of Mind: Help shape a new program for young people in Western Sydney
Description
Your ideas, your program
Peace of Mind is a new program in Western Sydney, where young people from different cultures and faiths meet in small groups, called peace circles.
In them, you talk about what’s been hard, find what you have in common, and work out together what you want to change.
We want young people to design it with us, so it works for the people it’s meant for.
Is this for me?
You’re aged 16 to 30
You live, study or work in Western Sydney (Blacktown, Cumberland, Parramatta, Fairfield, Liverpool or Canterbury-Bankstown)
You don’t need any experience. If school, community or services haven’t felt like they were made for you, we especially want to hear from you.
What happens on the day
Meet other young people in a relaxed, small-group setting
Tell us what makes a space feel safe, what you’d want to talk about, and how the circles should run
Share as much or as little as you like. You can take a break or step out at any time.
What you get
Payment for your time
Travel costs covered
Lunch and snacks
Your ideas built into a program running across Western Sydney until 2028. We’ll let you know what we did with them.
When and where
Friday 13 November 2026, 10:30am to 2:30pm
PHIVE (Parramatta Library), 5 Parramatta Square, Parramatta. A short walk from Parramatta Station.
Making it work for you
When you register, tell us anything that would help you take part: access needs, dietary needs, an interpreter, a quiet space, prayer times, or bringing a support person. If something’s stopping you from coming, get in touch and we’ll try to sort it.
Who’s running this
BEING is the NSW organisation for people with lived experience of the mental health system. We’re running Peace of Mind with Educaid Australia, Digital Nutrition and Sydney Alliance, with funding from Multicultural NSW.
Work with young people?
We have a small number of places for youth workers, teachers, community leaders and others who support young people. Most places are kept for young people, so please complete an Expression of Interest instead of registering directly.
Questions? Use the “Contact host” button and we’ll get back to you.
