Event description

Join us in celebrating the return of Pechakucha Night in Ōtautahi on Monday 20 February at the Canterbury Museum!

We have a truly inspiring lineup and we cannot wait to be back, to gather, and to celebrate! PechaKucha speakers will share inspiring stories about their roots, belonging, community and so much more!

To celebrate the return of Pechakucha night and its 20-year anniversary here in Ōtautahi we have special forest green AS Colour t-shirts available for purchase with the incredible Vol #44 design from our amazing Hannah Mcdade. There is a very limited number of these so make sure you get yours now! Select your t-shirt size when buying a ticket and you can collect them on the night.

The Canterbury Museum has now closed and all the artifacts are in storage, but make way for SHIFT - urban art takeover. We have exclusive access to the museum for one night only and we cannot wait to share this space with you, it is such a treat to be able to host PKN here before its official closure. To support the redevelopment of the Canterbury Museum we have included a $2 donation per ticket sale.  There is an option available when purchasing your ticket to donate more if you wish.
*Note: your ticket does not give you access to the Shift exhibition, but rather a taste or what to expect.

WHEN: MONDAY 20th February 2023 (6:00pm doors open, 6:30pm event starts)

WHERE: Canterbury Museum 11 Rolleston Avenue, Christchurch Central City

PechaKucha (Japanese for “chit chat”) is the world’s fastest-growing storytelling platform, used by millions around the globe. PechaKucha is what “Show and Tell” always dreamed of becoming.
20 slides. 20 seconds of commentary per slide. That’s it. Simple. Engaging. Spurring authentic connections. PechaKucha is the ideal tool to share passions and drop some knowledge.
Global innovators use the PechaKucha platform to create powerful, visually-compelling stories that move audiences in less than 7 minutes, and we are so excited to host the 20th Christchurch Event.

We have a truly inspiring line-up of speakers (artists, architects, designers, social workers Such as Jess Oranen, Wilby Le Heux) who will share their practices with us and discuss what this year’s theme: ROOTS, mean to them.

ROOTS is about belonging, community, change & stories. How a location can ground us, define who we are, where we come from and the work we do in a community. Sharing what it means when our work, or ourselves, respond and/or adapts to an environment
