Pedagogical Awakenings: The Power of Prefigurations
Event description
Pedagogical Awakenings: The Power of Prefigurations.
A commitment to the intentionality of prefiguring in teaching practice is a powerful mechanism that can empower teachers to reclaim their professional agency and enable rich learning for children. In a sea of complexity and the reality of children’s ‘super-diversity, educators can become overwhelmed by the process of curriculum design and the expectation of quality standards.
In this unique professional learning opportunity, Circularity Consulting will explore the concept of Prefigurations in innovative curriculum design. Drawing on the pedagogy of Reggio Emilia, alongside the expectations of our Learning Frameworks, this interactive workshop will invite educators to activate a process of prefiguring that scaffolds more thoughtful and intentional teaching practice.
Our hosts, Kincoppal Rose Bay School Early Learning Centre, who have been working with prefigurations, will bring the practice of prefigurations to life. There will be time to explore their dynamic learning environment and see first-hand how this approach supports transformative pedagogy.
