PEDAL — Flynn Dakis, Jesper Harrison, Sarah Ceraso & Toni Stathopoulos
Description
— Left out to dry
PEDAL traces artistic swimming’s lineage, inheriting its aesthetic, physical, and performative textures. As a quartet assuming tetrapod status, the dancers negotiate an ever-contracting choreographic space. In this shrinkage, gesture transforms. Beckoning becomes something other than itself.
A timepiece in another time. A form once submerged, now extracted. Like the whale, the dance inherits a terrestrial ancestor—a structure it has abandoned. Bodies, drenched and heavy, are lifted, hurled, and finally expelled; the puddle shrinks steadily beneath them. Divergence is both method and engine.
Dance as transmogrification.
