Voices of Birralee and Marist College Ashgrove are hosting the final performance in the three part Pemulwuy Prelude series. This concert features choirs from:

Marist College Ashgrove
Indooroopilly State School
Brisbane Grammar School

Where: Draney Theatre, Marist College Ashgrove

When: Thursday 30 March, 2023. Concert commences at 6:30pm (doors will open at approximately 6:15pm). Approximate conclusion at 7:45pm

Parking: Do not enter via Frasers Rd - this entry will be blocked. The best entrance is the one way bridge at Glenlyon Drive - it says do not enter but we will have Pemulwuy signs out to direct you. Some parking is available in the swimming pool car park.

Tickets: All tickets are general admission. Adults: $10 | School-aged children $5 | Children under 5 are free but require a ticket | Children sitting on laps do not require a ticket. Choristers performing will also not need a ticket.

All proceeds from the Pemulwuy Prelude concert series will go towards the commissioning of new Australian music for male voice choirs.

Voices of Birralee is a community arts organisation that believes singing together strengthens community, with choristers collaborating to create expressive music while building a strong sense of self and audiences being inspired by the beauty and infectiousness of joyous performance. Based in Brisbane, this not for profit choral organisation was founded in 1995 by Julie Christiansen OAM. The name Birralee is derived from an indigenous word, Birralii, used in the language of the Yuwaalaraay and Gamilaraay people from North-West NSW and South-West QLD, meaning 'child/children.' What began as a children's choir now comprises six ensembles (and a seventh adult project choir), which have attained a remarkable level of professionalism and are highly acclaimed by national and international audiences. Voices of Birralee caters for approximately 300 young people and employs 20 professional musicians and arts administrators and in excess of 25 volunteers. Our organisation believes in providing children and young people with rewarding singing experiences both onstage and beyond the concert hall. Our activities focus on the provision of positive life experiences that sees choristers grow as competent and confident human beings.
