People, Pottery and Painting with Sue Abdullah
Description
Join author Sue Abdullah for World Art Day to celebrate the life and artistic legacy of pioneering Tasmanian artist and potter, Eileen Brooker.
Born in 1922, Eileen Brooker grew up to become a potter and painter who has filtered her life experiences through the colourful prism of her art. Her artistic journey now reaches beyond 103 years.
Eileen’s stories unfold chronologically from her early influences and art training in Australia, to her overseas travel in the 1950s and her work in four English potteries. Returning to Australia in 1954, Eileen contributed greatly to art education in various Tasmanian educational institutions for some fifty years, all the while continuing with her own art practice in ceramics and painting.
Copies of Sue's book People, Pottery and Painting will be available for purchase on the evening.
