Create your very own game in Unreal Engine 5!

Get ready to level up your game development skills with our exciting 3-day game jam course! For just $49.99, you'll receive a comprehensive overview of game design and development using Unreal Engine 5.

During Session 1, you'll dive right into the action with a brief course overview and an introduction to game jams, game design and game engines. You'll also be presented with a theme and brainstorm ideas with your team. Than you'll start creating the project, setting up basic 3D objects and materials, and conceptualizing a character for the game. By the end of Session 1, you'll have a test level to try out your character!

In Session 2, you'll learn what makes games good and how to immerse a player using audio and visual design. You'll also deepen your understanding of Unreal Engine 5 by accessing the Quixel Megascans Library, developing the previously made level with high-resolution models, implementing an enemy, attacks, UI, and game logic. After a small brainstorm session, you'll present your ideas to other groups and receive feedback.

During Session 3, you'll learn about game polish and put on the final touches. You'll also have free time to work on whatever your game needs and finalize all elements of the game that you've gone over so far. By the end of the course, you'll have a fully playable demo and the knowledge to expand on this project.

Whether your a complete novice, or may already have some experience. This course has something to offer everyone by giving a unique opportunity to work collaborative complete a project under a time constraint.

Jamie and Daniel, year 12 students from Mountain Creek State High School will be teaching this course. Jamie and Daniel both have a passion for gaming, game design and the medium as a whole.

Note: This course is designed specifically for people 12-16 years old.

  • Session 1: Monday 3rd, April, from 9am to 1pm
  • Session 2: Tuesday 4th, April,from 9am to 1pm
  • Session 3: Wednesday 5h, April, from 9am to 1pm

  • An installed and updated copy of Unreal Engine 5 available here or download it by clicking here (Unreal Engine uses the Epic Games store, and thus a free Epic Games Login is required

Note: Unreal Engine is a relativity heavy game engine, meaning it requires moderately strong hardware to run well. And thus it is recommended to have the minimum specs required to experience the course to its fullest.
