EVENT INFO

PERFECT BEASTS is an evening of Bouffon Clown performance by Stephen Daytime and Joshua Kilcoyne, devised and presented in collaboration with Jay Dunn.

These performances are being presented in conjunction with a one-day Bouffon Fundamentals Workshop on Sunday, April 26. Workshop students will be granted free admission to the show. Info & registration can be found at https://events.humanitix.com/perfect-beasts-workshop.

WHAT IS BOUFFON?

Bouffon is a form of modern clown and physical theater rooted in the art of satire and mockery. Bouffons are voracious, lustful, mischievous creatures to whom nothing and no one is sacred. They are seductive mimics and shameless provocateurs who revel in ridiculing everyone and everything around them. The audience laughs at the Clown - the Bouffon laughs at the audience.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

The creators of PERFECT BEASTS met in 2024 while training with renowned Italian theater artist and teacher Giovanni Fusetti. Recognizing their shared passion for the art of Bouffon, they joined forces to bring this lesser-known form of contemporary clown to new audiences. PERFECT BEASTS debuted with a three-night run at La Porte Rouge in Montreal, Quebec in December 2025.

Total runtime approximately 75 minutes, no intermission.
Not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

PART ONE: MINOTAUR
created and performed by Stephen Daytime

A playfully grotesque exploration of hysterical masculinity and manosphere culture presented as an ever-expanding and increasingly absurd list of rules and instructions on how to live your life right.

Stephen Daytime is a playwright, puppeteer, clown and actor based in Montreal.

PART TWO: MIMI
created and performed by Joshua Kilcoyne

MIMI is a strange and enchanting birdlike creature whose sole desire is to be seen as beautiful, exceptional, and rare. Each performance serves as an elaborate mating ritual between audience and performer as MIMI struts and serenades through a virtuosic demonstration of why nothing is more important than being singular, sparkling, and special.

Joshua Kilcoyne is an interdisciplinary performance artist (and Hampshire College graduate) currently based in the Catskills.

Jay Dunn (co-producer) is an actor, director, writer and teacher based in New York who has performed internationally, Off-Broadway and regionally. Based in Brooklyn, NY, Jay currently teaches Acting, Movement and Physical Comedy at the SUNY Purchase BA & BFA program. An alum of Lincoln Center Directors Lab 2018 and SDC Foundation Observership class of 2018, Jay is also a graduate of Middlebury College and L'Ecole Jacques Lecoq.
