In these eight sessions lasting 2 to 3 hours, participants will be introduced to an in-depth practice of devising theatre and performance that is based on the Lecoq methodology and Viewpoints Technique: Performative Ecology.
Performative Ecology is an introduction to devising physical, site-specific performance in a creative ensemble.
“Performative” refers to a complete expression of body/voice/imagination that is spontaneous rather than based on rehearsal or script.
“Ecology” refers to a system where all elements and players are interrelated.
If you’ve had some theatre experience, this course may give you some new ideas about how to create shows, especially site-specific work and work that goes beyond realism. It’s based in the Lecoq pedagogy, which approaches a wide variety of performance styles.
If you have less, little or no experience performing, this will be an environment where you can learn without pressure and most importantly, tap into your imagination and have fun!
