PERMACULTURE FILM CLUB: Alter Nativas
Event description
ABOUT THE FILM
Alternativas” from Latin Alter (other) and Nativus (born), refers to the search for new realities, new origins. That is the starting point of this documentary project: to show innovative initiatives of ecological transition. Diverse experiences that are proposing answers to the systemic crisis that we are suffering in the world: energetic, economic, ecological, social, cultural and epistemic.
“Alter Nativas, Building Possible Futures” is a collaborative feature film that aims to address, with a propositive and possibility-oriented approach, issues such as: How can we deal with this situation and adapt to a changing reality? What alternatives, individual and collective, are already being launched in different places to “transition” to resilient communities and more sustainable life models? What new stories and experiences can mark the future of our neighbourhoods, towns and cities? How can we take the first steps to create an economy that promotes social justice and harmony with the planet and among ourselves?
This documentary is about transition initiatives and ecosocial regeneration; a collective project to make visible transformative experiences of our geography and inspire other possible futures. The feature film tries to respond, with a purposeful approach and possibility, to questions such as: How can we face the current environmental situation and adapt to a changing reality? What individual and collective alternatives are already being implemented in different places to transition towards resilient communities and more sustainable models of life? What new stories and experiences can mark the future of our neighbourhoods, towns and cities? o How can we take the first steps to create an economy that promotes social justice and harmony with the planet and with each other?

ABOUT OUR FREE MONTHLY FILM CLUB
Welcome to the Permaculture Education Institute's monthly permaculture film club. We screen permaculture-related films each month and host a global conversation inspired by the film. Make sure to subscribe below to our event's portal here to hear immediately when we release a new event.
THIS IS A ‘PAY WHAT YOU CAN’ EVENT - WHAT HAPPENS TO THE MONEY?
Whilst our film clubs are free events, we do warmly welcome your generous donation. We always send 100% of all donations received via our registered charity, Ethos Foundation.
50% of donation received from this event will go towards permaculture food forest nurseries and planting in East African refugee camps and locally-led classes to show youth how to set up and maintain a perennial food forest. People have been living in these camps for decades - perennial food systems are so much more reliable, robust, and abundant, and help to fight the hunger and poverty experienced every day.
50% will go to the non-profit film team who have put together this wonderful documentary, to support their ongoing community education work for transitioning to an ecological society.
