Permission to Shine | An Evening of Genuine Connection

A little more community. A little more connection.

As adults, it can be surprisingly difficult to meet new people and find genuine community.

We can live in the same neighbourhood, visit the same cafés, walk the same beaches and pass the same people every day without ever really getting to know each other.

Permission to Shine is a small attempt to change that.

For two hours, we'll bring together a small group of people for conversation, laughter, stories and a few playful activities designed to help us move beyond the usual small talk and actually connect.

✨ What's the idea?

Despite the name, you don't need to do anything spectacular to shine. Some of the best conversations happen when we stop trying to be impressive.

You don't need to have the best story in the room, a hidden talent or a particularly interesting life. And you certainly don't need to be outgoing or great at socializing.

The idea at the heart of the evening is simple:

Curiosity beats impressiveness.

You don't need to be interesting. Be interested.

Through a few fun, thoughtfully guided activities, we'll create opportunities to share a little about ourselves, learn something about others and discover what happens when we give people our genuine attention.

There'll be opportunities to share something that lights you up, something you've experienced or simply something that makes you happy.

But there's absolutely no pressure to share.

Say a lot. Say a little. Or simply listen and be curious about the people around you.
