Persian Embroidery
Event description
There's no better way to spend your Sunday afternoon than to get comfy up with some traditional Persian tea and Iranian delights with artists Hilin and Heifer as you learn to sew Persian embroidery.
Your amazing teachers, Hilin and Heifer will introduce you to the preliminary steps of traditional Persian textile craft, unique to the city of Yazd in Iran, where they spent much of their lives. You'll be sure to leave the Timbermill with your very own handkerchief embellished with Persian embroidery.
"For us, making is a gift. We love to make, so that we may give. Rather than purchasing gifts, we believe in spending our time to give. When we create, it is an opportunity for us to slow down, enjoy the company of others with a cup of tea, good food, and to share life with one another."
This is a unique opportunity to learn about the plight of people from
refugee backgrounds in an increasingly complex world, and support the
work of two artists on their journey.
