Personal Mythmaking through writing and movement with Tamara Elkins
Event description
If you were to transform from how you are now into an animal, a landform, a plant or an element; what would it be?
Using writing as a tool to generate movement we will workshop personal mythologies focusing on transformation as the central theme. All you need is yourself, your imagination and some comfortable clothes to move in. Open to all levels and no prior experience in writing or dance is necessary.
About your facilitator
This workshop is facilitated by Tamara Elkins. Working in the mediums of printmaking, drawing, installation and performance Elkins’ work looks at emotional and psychological states of being within contemporary society. Her artworks often use the body interacting with the natural world where it acts as a metaphor for internal human states of existence.
Elkins is currently interested in the role that magic as a construct plays in our life, in the personal narrative, how that spills into social structures and its place in our current global community.
