Personalise Your Clothes: Embroidery with Fran
Event description
Heading back to the office wearing the same wardrobe of plain, polite workwear? Why not learn how to customise your clothing, add some personality to your favourite garments and make them pop with embroidered embellishments!Â
In this class, Fran will show you how to use embroidery to add decorative touches to your clothes, as well as how to visibly mend holes and reinforce weak spots. Not only is this a fun and creative way to fall in love with your garments again, but it's a great skill to have to sustainably extend the life of your clothes.
Fran will be sharing some fun and unique embroidery techniques that you can use to make your clothes one-of-a-kind. Don't miss this opportunity to learn a valuable and environmentally-friendly skill.
This class is beginner friendly! No sewing experience necessary.
What will we cover?
In this fun, hands on workshop you will:Â
- Learn basic embroidery stitches
- How to use an embroidery hoop
- How different fabrics behave and what works bestÂ
- Have a practice and then attempt to personalise a piece of clothing with some simple but effective designs.
What will you need?
Please BYO garment that you'd like to decorate. You don't have to use it in class - we can provide fabric if you prefer to practice - but by bringing something along you can learn about its fabric, and decide on some designs and colours which you can practice on scrap fabric.
