Perspectives Concert Series Package
Event description
10 and 11 May 2024
Adelaide Town Hall
In the setting of Adelaide’s beautiful Town Hall, Chamber Music Adelaide presents Perspectives: four brand new chamber works by South Australian composers written especially for South Australian musicians. Created as part of a Cultural Strategic Partnership with the City of Adelaide, these compositions are framed in concert with works spanning chamber music’s rich history.
Remarkably, all four composers place text and song at the heart of their composition. Yet the four works present strikingly varied themes and compositional approaches. Each allows the audience to experience the unique musical and cultural perspective of its composer.
“The minute a composer sets words to music, those words are understood through the prism of that music. The way we hear them is transformed by a new emotional and aesthetic perspective.”
-Penelope Cashman, pianist and Perspectives performer
The four Perspectives premieres will be presented across two evening concerts on 10th and 11th May in the Adelaide Town Hall. Audience members are warmly invited to attend pre-concert talks each evening.
SAVE $21 by purchasing a package for $80 to enjoy both concerts.

Concert: We Carry the Song
Featuring new works by composers Jodie O’Regan and Nathan May with Julian Ferraretto.
South Australia resonates with both the ancient songs of this land and new melodies carried across the seas. In this concert, a baroque string quartet is transformed when it becomes the medium for Arabana song writer Nathan May’s exploration of his connection to Country. Jodie O’Regan’s evocative Night Whales: Cana Cludhmor draws on Irish heritage as she tells the story of whaling in the Fleurieu. In presenting these new works alongside chamber music of Germany, Italy and the British Isles, this concert celebrates our ancient land, our migrant history, and new perspectives for South Australian chamber music.
