Description

Business Women Australia Perth Back to Business: Make Your Budget – A Practical Planning Workshop

Start the business year with more than good intentions. Start with a practical budget to set yourself up for a year of business growth.

Join our small group, hands-on Make Your Budget workshop with Stacey Payrits, Partner and Chartered Accountant at LG Accounting Solutions and Lyn Hawkins, National Director of Business Women Australia.

This isn’t a seminar about why budgets are important. It’s a three-hour working session designed to help you actually build the budget you will use this year.

Whether you’re a business owner, founder, CEO, General Manager, Director, practice manager, running a committee, responsible for a team, or a board member, this workshop is for you. Stacey will take us through the thinking and numbers behind a meaningful business budget. Lyn will facilitate the discussion and ensure everyone's questions are answered.

This is the perfect time to translate goals for the year into a practical budget, with realistic revenue assumptions, expenditure decisions, cash projections and performance targets.

We’ll work through

  • Where your business is now and what your numbers are telling you

  • Setting realistic revenue and profit assumptions

  • Understanding fixed and variable costs

  • Planning for people, investment and growth

  • Building contingencies for the unexpected

  • The relationship between your budget, cash flow and forecast

  • Testing assumptions and considering different scenarios

  • Using budget versus actual performance to make better decisions throughout the year

  • Identifying the numbers you should be watching as a leader

You will leave with practical resources, budgeting templates and frameworks for you to work with during the session and continue using afterwards.

Most importantly, you’ll be working on your own business or organisation, with the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the experiences and perspectives of other business leaders in the room.

Your individual Budget Review

The learning doesn’t finish when the workshop does.

Your registration also includes a personal one-to-one Budget Review with Stacey Payrits, booked following the workshop, providing an opportunity to review what you’ve developed, ask questions specific to your circumstances and identify areas requiring further attention.

Come prepared to work

Bring your laptop and, where appropriate, your recent Profit & Loss, previous budget and other financial information you are comfortable working with privately. We will remind you prior to the workshop.

  • You won’t be asked to share confidential financial information with the group.

  • You don’t need to be a finance expert.

This session is about helping leaders become more financially confident and better equipped to plan ahead and monitor process. It will also be highly valuable in having meaningful conversations with your accountant, finance team, board, colleagues and advisers.

Who should attend?

Designed for business owners, founders, CEOs, General Managers, practice managers and other leaders responsible for business planning, budgets and performance.

It will be particularly valuable for leaders who know they should have a meaningful budget but haven’t created one, as well as those who have a budget sitting somewhere in a spreadsheet that isn’t actively informing their decisions.

More than numbers

At BWA, we see financial literacy as a leadership capability.

This practical experience aligns particularly with the Inner Development Goals of Thinking and Acting; strengthening our capacity to make sense of information, consider different perspectives, plan for the future and turn intention into purposeful action.

A good budget isn’t about predicting the future perfectly.

It’s about making your assumptions visible, understanding your choices and giving yourself a framework for making better decisions when circumstances change.
