Perth Cityscapes with Sony
Description
A relaxed, hands-on photography workshop at the South Perth Foreshore with Ted's Cameras & Sony Australia. Over three hours along with Nathan Dobbie (Nature By Nathan), we’ll explore Perth’s skyline and the Swan River as the light changes from late afternoon through sunset and into the night where city lights reflect on the Swan River.
The workshop will focus on practical techniques for cityscape photography, managing changing dynamic light, and creating strong compositions using reflections and the Perth skyline. Participants will have plenty of time to practice, receiving one-on-one guidance and feedback throughout the evening.
The workshop is aimed at beginner to intermediate photographers looking to build confidence with their camera and improve their creative skills. There will also be an opportunity to try selected Sony equipment supplied through Ted’s Cameras.

What You Will Learn:
Camera Basics: Set up for landscape photography.
Pre-planning for landscape photography shoots.
Equipment for landscape photography (lens selection/filters/etc).
Understand how natural light can control mood and composition in your images.
How different focal lengths can be used to open up new composition opportunities.
Exposure Bracketing to capture the full dynamic range of a scene.
Exposure settings in manual mode – master the balance of ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture.
What to Bring:
DSLR / Mirrorless Camera
Lenses are Suggested such as 14mm 1.8 / 20mm 1.8 / 14-24mm 2.8 / 16-35mm 2.8/ 24-70mm (full frame equivalents) would suit.
Water
Suitable clothing & Warm Jacket to keep warm (Swan River area can be cool)
Sunset will be 6:21pm
About Nathan Dobbie
Nathan Dobbie is an Australian photographer with over 10 years’ experience in landscape photography. Growing up in the Perth Hills of Western Australia gave Nathan an early appreciation for the natural world, which shaped the way he photographs landscapes today. For the past eight years, Nathan has shared his passion for photography through in-person workshops and online tutorials, helping others refine their skills while developing a deeper connection with the landscapes they photograph.
