Event description

Organisers CMS Events have decided to cancel the Perth Event Show for 2021.

It comes on the back to lockdowns and momentum shifts over the past few weeks and months. While WA does seem to be isolated from the current Covid issues, the confidence in the marketplace is a universal issue.

Local business is doing it tough, and events are still not seen as a priority for many. While it may be the best possible time to get back and market face to face the uncertainty of being able to do so can be very frustrating.

The company was reluctant of making yet another change or postponement after a year of moving the event around in what appears to be a conservative period for business. Many companies were happy to sit back and wait.

Event director Richard Campbell does remain optimistic for the future but concedes it is the best decision for the moment.

“Events have been hit hard as the industry knows, and it was hoped the second half of 2021 would see things gearing back up again, but with the recent outbreaks on the east coast people are nervous as it proves things can change quickly.“I back the call for people to get vaccinated as soon as possible, because it will be the quickest way we can resume events with confidence.

We cannot depend on support from government or others, we must depend on the Australian community to do the right thing so we can open up the country again.

“We will review a pared back network and business presentation for September this year to assist building the face-to-face network opportunities that are needed for growth. The theme will be to reunite and rebuild the events industry in WA.
