Event description

Join PCT for an engaging presentation on "Palliative Care in Northern Tasmania," led by Peta Alford, Nurse Unit Manager with the Specialist Palliative Care Service North team

This session is suited for healthcare professionals and community members interested in understanding the distinctions between specialist and generalist palliative care and the current palliative care services available in Northern Tasmania.

Peta will discuss:
    • A snapshot of palliative care in Northern Tasmania.
    • The differences between specialist and generalist palliative care.
    • What palliative care looks like in the community and the available services.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, offering attendees the opportunity to engage further.

Speaker Bio:

Peta Alford has been a nurse for 18 years, specialising in Intensive and Critical Care. After reaching a point of burnout and feeling uncomfortable with how end-of-life care discussions & care were approached in the critical care setting, she transitioned into palliative care with the Specialist Palliative Care Service in Northern Tasmania. Peta recently became the Nurse Unit Manager after working as a Clinical Nurse Consultant for five years. She is passionate about client-focused care, supporting carers, and advocating for primary health in Tasmania

Recording and Materials:

Recording of the session will be made available to the Palliative Care Tasmania website - https://pallcaretas.org.au/spe...
