Event description

Due to overwhelming demand, these sessions are currently at full capacity. Keep an eye of this event for more sessions to be made available.

PETAA is a national, not-for-profit professional association supporting primary school educators in the teaching and learning of English and literacies across the curriculum.

PETAA’s Young Writers Program is a bespoke initiative that connects published children’s authors with schools in Victoria, to deliver tailored workshops and mentoring for high-ability pupils (years 1 - 8) and teachers in the subject of Writing.

PETAA’s Young Writers Program, Victoria launched in Term 3 2020 and will run until December 2022. The aim is to work with over 2250 children across Victorian schools.

There is no cost to the students for these events.

PETAA will organise in- school tailored workshops where a published writer collaborates with teachers and works in the school for two days with high-ability students and relevant teachers. A carefully curated resource pack of reference texts and quality children’s literature is provided for schools as a permanent asset. The author is in a unique position to be able to demonstrate and share how real writers write, thereby inspiring students.

PETAA has a bank of writers to draw upon and many of these also have teaching experience.

PETAA will liaise with schools and writers to match requirements as much as possible and find suitable dates that work for both parties and the writer will be flexible to respond to what the school needs in terms of its writing program.

Register your school’s interest by clicking GET TICKETS and completing the information form.

A PETAA staff member will get back to you to discuss details.
