Event description

A soundtrack of be(come)ing me and a lot of 80’s!

Interactive, autobiographical - Drag - Show about becoming myself with a lot of 80’s music.

From Austria to Australia, the show is a wild soundtrack of becoming me.

Coming of age and being of age. Becoming yourself and being yourself.

After 52 years of living as a creative, queer person in this world and 30 years performing all over it, it's time I share my life story. And the music that soundtracked it.

And yes, you can dance!

Giving a fresh perspective on music, Drag Queen, performance art, history and the 80’s in particular.

A love letter to life itself and about dreams and ideas and them becoming a reality - not always - but if you really want it and don’t stop - they will…

Come for the show, then stay for the High-Energy 80’s Disco Party!

80’s wizard Peter Baecker spins a treasure chest of hits, sharing trivia, stories, pure 80’s joy & yes lots of dancing—including maybe even 99 Luftballons.

Meet your performer: Peter Baecker!

Peter Baecker’s Art originates in the 80’s, especially their pop-music.

But never in a retrospective way, but creating Identity and being his power source.

He describes himself as "born 1973, but made by the 80’s".

„I grew up in Austria, with my mother’s kitchen-radio always blasting the hits. 1980 I was 7 years old. At this age you are very open to your environment and also begin to strengthen your own personality.“

A genuine and deep rooted bond was made between little Peter growing up and the songs he heard every day. He often describes his eardrums being calibrated by these tunes.

They became his inspiration and power-source. His happy-place, where he is entirely himself.

Baecker performs apparently average events, such as Parties, Disco’s, Roving performances and Theatre plays, which revolve around 80’s pop music.

By staging these seemingly ordinary events, he creates a room (often without actually creating one) where his happy energy is released and where the audience feels safe enough to let themselves free from convention and turn themselves into the happiest persons they can be at this moment.

„There is something deeply magical about it. Like everyone becomes their own shaman and channels their own source of entire joy.“

Peter Baecker sees himself working in the tradition of the Fluxus movement, which „understand the work as a site of interaction between artist and audience“ (John Cage).

Fluxus … began as network of artists and composers who challenged accepted ideas about what art is … developed ‘anti-art’, anti-commercial aesthetics … played an important role in the opening up of definitions of art. (Tate, London)

Example of Fluxus artists: Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik and Joseph Beuys.
