Peter Hunt
Event description
Within the miniatures of the universe that are music, Peter Hunt takes listeners on journeys through worlds of song reflecting his love for African music, jazz and folk music. Feelings and themes of seeking and finding belonging are woven through the fabric of the sound along with a sense of his relationship with nature and the land. Having released several albums with his group Kooii, he released a more intimate album of songs under his name entitled Vessel in 2020, which features his voice and lyricism woven through intriguing and hypnotic guitar compositions. Since then he has released several other singles under his name. His performances offer listeners the opportunity to merge with the peace-calling nature of the music, as he journeys with the vessels of his songs, opening up passages for his trumpet playing to take over from where his voice has led, projecting his inner voice through the nature and mechanics of the horn and what the art of playing it draws out.
Originally from Brisbane, he has lived around Mullumbimby for almost 10 years. As well as sharing his music in various modes with various collaborations in the area he holds a singing group called Home Cords that bridges an intuitive way with cultivating songs and baskets of harmony and rhythm.
