    Event description

Petite Suite by Brand X is back and bougier than ever with our unmissable, immersive, mini-bar, micro-festival hosted by Ace Hotel Sydney. Don’t miss your invitation to check in and check out 7 unique performances in 7 dazzling suites as 7 artists subvert your reality of a hotel room through contemporary performance… but, choose your adventure wisely as your key won’t unlock every door!

    PETITE SUITE HOST

    Annabel Lines

Annabel Lines has eaten razor blades with seminal French circus Archaos, toted green fire as a glamorously dead mermaid, swung a bunch of hula hoops to crowds of thousands, danced her arse off with notorious potty-mouthed queen of queer electro-pop Peaches – generally bitten off more than she can chew and made a gourmet meal out of it. From cemeteries and sick beds to vast arenas and dreamy big tops, Annabel has sprinkled her version of hilarious beauty and uncanny vision across the seas. Now a semi-recluse and as weird and wonderful as ever, she returns to the corridors of Ace Hotel.

    SHAMGODDS: DOWNTIME

Artists:  Malcolm Whittaker, Nitin Vengurlekar & Matt Prest.

Shamgodds will perform seven-minutes of downtime funk, drawing once again on sports rituals, quotidian choreographic riffs, and a consideration of the ways in which our rest periods are continually commodified. In the overdetermined rest-space of a hotel room, the Shamgodds inhabit and move between images of repose, restlessness, fever dream, perversion and tedium.

    TWO BODIES ONE MIND

Artists: Keila Terencio de Paula, Renata Commisso & Rudolf Hendrikx

“I wrote about it the next morning after that dream, and the morning after that, and each day after each dream… Am I actually awake? If it is not real, please wake me up, or stop manipulating me, let me find my body again".

    THE INTERRUPTION

    Artists: Dorothea Csutkai, Robyn Simpson

What happens in your hotel room when you’re not there? Indulge your curiosities as Suspended Reality Dance Theatre reveals some secrets…

    QUIET REVOLUTIONS

Artists:  Lucy Doherty & Hana Truban.

Step back in time to the 1970s queer liberation movement with ‘Quiet Revolutions’, an intimate dance performance that invites you into the once hidden world of a lesbian couple.

    ATTENTION IS ALL YOU NEED

    Artist: hosting

An intimate AI encounter that challenges perceptions of contemporary machine learning. A familiar computer interface, an unfamiliar procedure. Isn’t it nice to have a computer that can talk to you…

    THE WILL

Artists: Vashti Hughes & Ross Johnston.

Sydney prices! Who can even afford a glass of wine? Let alone a mortgage. Time to check in with that distant elderly relative and remind them you exist. What "WILL" your future hold?

    THE WETNESS

    Artist: Rose Kingdom-Barron.

The wetness in you sees the wetness in me. Together we’ll tap into water, unblock ourselves and flow more freely within and to other bodies of water. Bring your clam-squad, it’s time to get wet.

    Accessibility information

Ace Hotel has a stairless access into the building (25m towards Oxford St./uphill from the main entrance), accessible bathrooms and an elevator up to Level 3 where the Petite Suite events will take place. All rooms are designed to be physically accessible, however the space within each hotel room is very limited and is not wheelchair accessible due to the small confines of space.
Due to the nature of the event Brand X can not guarantee that artists have set up their room or created their performance to be accessible.
The corridor between the rooms will be crowded and busy as patrons move between spaces in only a three minute turn around.

For any accessibility inquiries please contact dean@brandx.org.au
