Event description

Introducing a traditional Ukrainian tribute to the Northern Harvest!

Join experienced Ukrainian artist Elizabeth Gunko, for a 3-hour, beginner-friendly workshop and create a vibrant painting in the traditional Ukrainian painting style 'Petrykivka'. During this workshop you will learn more about ancient Ukrainian culture and the symbolism of this unique folk art style, which is recognised by UNESCO heritage.

Using acrylic paints on canvas, you will complete a gorgeous wreath of sunflowers and wheat sheaves, which significance plays tribute to the traditions of the Northern Harvest.

Your tutor will lead you through the painting process with great detail, and show you all the secrets of this special technique. By the end of the lesson you will leave with a finished painting, new skills and knowledge, and inspiration to do more at home!

Materials:

Most materials are provided, which includes canvases, paints and brush equipment. You will also take home a completed artwork at the end of the workshop.

Please bring along your own sketchbook, pencil and eraser for your preliminary sketching (these do not have to be high quality).
