Pewter casting for beginners
Description
This two-part workshop provides participants with the essential skills needed to mould and cast pewter successfully. An incredibly versatile material, previous participants have made broaches, jewellery, board game pieces, vintage car badges and more! You will explore various moulding materials and techniques, as well as finishing techniques for various items. Enclosed footwear and heat-resistant clothing is required. All materials are included.
Session 1 - (2 hours)
In our first session participants will see a start-to-finish demonstration of carving a basic cuttlefish mould, and casting of an item. Participants will then work on their own cuttlefish mould and with the help of our facilitators cast their own creation.
Session 2 - (2 hours)
In our second session participants will work on a more advanced multi-piece mould. Built from laser cut MDF, cuttlefish or another heat-proof material, these moulds allow more control or accuracy over the finished item.
