PHONDUPE (LIVE) | Deep Listening Event | Attune Closing Ceremony
Event description
Attune Festival concludes with an immersive Deep Listening performance by Phondupe (Rich Lucano)—a multi-dimensional electronic artist whose work dissolves the boundaries between ambient, experimental and electronica.
Here, Machine Hall is transformed into a space for heightened perception. With the industrial space adorned with mats, audiences have the option to either take in the sights and sounds of the electronic artist, or to lie down, close their eyes, and be enveloped by an evolving world of pulsing analog rhythms, spectral vocals and layered soundscapes—music as atmosphere, both intimate and vast.
With performances spanning the Sydney Opera House, Dimensions Festival and City Recital Hall, and support slots for Jon Hopkins, Tangerine Dream and Kiasmos, Phondupe brings his acclaimed practice to the Attune stage. A cinematic and transportive finale—part concert, part listening experience—to leave the festival suspended in resonance.
Listen to Phondupe here.
TICKETED EVENT: $20 + BF
EVENT LIVE: 4pm - 5pm
Join us from 1pm for the first half of the Attune Closing Ceremony, with Listen Up Sound Journey (ticketed separately).
About Phondupe
Phondupe is sonic talisman Rich Lucano—a multi-dimensional electronic artist who occupies the liminal space between ambient, experimental, and electronica. Known for his layered soundscapes and hypnotic pacing, his immersive sound evokes a kaleidoscope of colour and emotion through ambient maximalism and cinematic sonics.
Following the acclaimed TORSO (2024)—a visceral album of meditative piano works—Phondupe returns in 2025 with Air Conditioning Vol. 2, a collection of long-form ambient compositions that build on the success of its predecessors on streaming platforms, amassing over 800k plays to date across Apple Music and Spotify.
Live, Phondupe's performances fuse pulsing analog rhythms, delicate motifs and unbridled heart—somewhere between Nicolas Jaar, John Cale and Nils Frahm. Performing with a dynamic hybrid of analog hardware and live vocals, Lucano creates evolving, transportive sets.
Lucano recently debuted his latest live show supporting electronic legends Tangerine Dream at City Recital Hall Sydney for Vivid Music, accompanied by bespoke A/V production from visual collaborators Babekühl (Genesis Owusu, Yebba).
Phondupe’s journey has taken him from the Sydney Opera House to Dimensions Festival in Croatia, supporting artists like Jon Hopkins, Kiasmos, and Maribou State, and showcasing a 360-degree installation of his ambient piece “AMA” at Vivid Sydney 2023.
