Building Phonological Awareness through Play

Phonological Awareness has been shown to impact later reading success for children. Early Childhood Educators can support the development of Phonological Awareness in the early years through creating intentional opportunities for developing sound discrimination, syllable awareness, rhythm & rhyme, alliteration and oral blending & segmenting – all through playful games, songs and rhymes.

We feel strongly that the best way to support young children’s development is to harness the potential in their natural ways of learning – through joyful play and connection with others.

Registration is for both sessions!

In this workshop, we will:

Explore what Phonological Awareness is and why it is important in early childhood settings
'Play' with lots of practical ideas for supporting Phonological Awareness
Support you in creating a 'mini inquiry' for your context, around this concept and your practice

Light afternoon tea will be provided
