Our practical photography training helps you tell powerful visual stories, whether you’re shooting on a smartphone or camera.

Course content

• Get to know your camera
  Understand the key features of your SLR or smartphone and learn which settings really matter and which you can ignore.

• Powerful portraits
  Tips on shooting powerful portraits that tell a story. This covers lighting, framing, background, mistakes to avoid and crucially tips for putting your subject at ease.

• Documentary shots
  Tips on shooting images that help you tell the story by setting the scene and drawing out the small details of a person’s story. This will include advice and ideas for showing need without victimising individuals.

• Photographing children
  Things to consider when photographing children and tips for ensuring anonymity.

• Understand consent and GDPR
  Gain confidence shooting in public with clear guidance on consent, privacy, and data protection responsibilities.
