Photonics walk through – What can light do for you?
Event description
Join Blake Regan on an interactive tour of Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) capabilities followed by a networking event. Blake is the Technical Coordinator for the facilities managed at the University of Technology Sydney. Blake's Research focuses on the development of fabrication protocols on optically active, single photon producing materials, generating photonic architectures used to augment and enhance light. In his role Blake has built and developed the UTS ANFF hub from the ground up, being crucially involved with the design, construction, development and management of each facility in the ANFF space. Blake now focuses on the development of niche etching and deposition processes for quantum materials for both R&D and Commercial outcomes.
In this tour you will learn,
- How things are fabricated on the smallest scales – from microns down to nanometres.
- How these micro and nano parts are essential for innovative and critical technologies.
- How ANFF capabilities could be used by anyone through our open-access model.
- How broader capabilities across ANFF nationally in enabling R&D for Australian businesses.
You will find this tour interesting if you are an innovative,
- Start-up that requires a hardware prototype to solve a technological challenge.
- SME evaluating cost-effective strategies for developing your next breakthrough technology.
- MNC looking to supercharge your R&D capabilities.
- Individual/sole-trader with an idea looking for support in demonstrating your first proof-of-concept.
ANFF capabilities at the University of Technology, Sydney are well known for supporting R&D in the following areas:
- Photonics
- Diamond nanofabrication
- Generation of optically active materials
- Broad range of material etching capabilities.
IMPORTANT:
1. Participants for this event must first report to Grid Room (CB04.05.430), Building 4 of UTS,Sydney on the day of this event.
2. Participants must wear closed footwear for safety reasons, as there could be movement between laboratories.
3. There will be a catered networking event with light refreshments, as part of the facility tour. Please let us know if you are unable to attend as this will help us organise catering.
