This twilight workshop has been designed by an experienced HSC marker to best prepare students for the 2024 HSC. In this workshop, students will cover exam technique and strategy, particularly in a Module 8 context and finding links with other modules. Students will be:

identifying overarching themes and interrelationships amongst the content
addressing Working Scientifically
unpacking difficult content
addressing common mistakes and misconceptions
developing strategies for extended response questions
unpacking new practice questions
evaluating sample responses
learning what the markers are looking for

All students will walk away with a variety of resources.

Workshop Delivered by Simon Crook

Dr Simon Crook is a very experienced HSC Physics teacher and provider of Physics professional learning, with a PhD in Physics Educations Research (USyd) and a BSc (Hons) in Physics (Manchester). Simon has been working with many high schools and school systems to best prepare their teachers and students for HSC Physics, including his regular partnership schools. In addition, Simon has been in regular dialogue with STANSW, NESA and The University of Sydney, as well as having articles published in The Conversation, Australian Physics and AARE, regarding the HSC Physics syllabus and exams. Previously, he was a HSC Physics Marker for several years and also worked on HSC Physics Advice Line. As such, Simon is in the unique position of currently teaching to a wide variety of students while delivering many professional learning and student workshops around the HSC Physics syllabus and exams.
