Event description

Come down to CoCo on Saturday the 7th of May for an evening of poetry and piano. William Zappa and Kelesi Woodhouse will each be reciting their poetry, with Lee Primmer accompanying William’s reading on the piano, and Kelesi accompanying her own recital with improvised piano.

Kelesi Woodhouse is a seasoned performer and published singer songwriter and jazz pianist. She also, as part of this process, writes poetry. In February this year, at River Rock Bermagui, Kelesi improvised music at the piano whilst reciting her poetry. Accompanying herself and reciting new poems in the same process is an exciting new venture for Kelesi, which she is delighted to be bringing to this CoCo double bill.

William Zappa has been an actor for nearly sixty years and has written poetry for even longer. He lives in Dignams Creek and his adaptation of Homer’s Iliad was performed at the Four Winds Festival in 2022.

Lee Primmer has had a wide experience in music, performing and teaching for many years. She recently moved to Cobargo from Barragga Bay and is enjoying the feeling of community.

William and Lee first performed together at the Headland Writer’s Festival in Tathra. Over a period of several months Lee chose music to go with William’s poems, resulting in a selection that is as varied musically as the poems are thematically.

Tickets prices are variable, Pay as you choose. A luscious dinner from the CoCo Kitchen will be available for $15 if you book by Thursday 5th, otherwise $20, including on the night (until we run out!).
