Piano Blues for Ali Penney

Event description

Yes we are hoping that this will be bigger than Ben-Hur to raise funds for our sister in blues piano, Ali Penney. We have Jan Preston and Carolyn Packer as well as local suspects Wayne Kelly, John Black and Leo Joseph, all playing blues piano for you
Our dear friend, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Teacher, and Australian Blues artist Alison (Ali) Penney has sadly been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
Leo Joseph has put together a wonderful line-up for a special Blues Piano Day for their sister in piano blues, Ali Penney, who has found herself fighting cancer and is in need of our help.
This fundraiser is to offer assistance to Ali and her husband Dave as they navigate the medical minefield of costs that lay before them.
As anyone would know, Ali has an infectious and loving nature and has ALWAYS put other people's comforts before her own. Now it is time for her to receive the love and support that she has given to so many over the years in light of this upsetting news. Ali has always been a beacon of light for those suffering around her and we want to show her that we are all grateful for that support.
Receiving a Cancer diagnosis is not easy and with it comes cost despite Australia having a well funded medical system, but
Unfortunately Ali's cancer has progressed outside of her lung and into her chest wall and several lymph nodes.

Ali's official subtype of lung cancer is Stage 4 non-small cell lung adenocarcinoma. Ali will no longer be able to work full time in her job as a primary school teacher which will adversely affect her and Dave financially. Ali needs to rest and be cared for to ensure she has a chance at survival of this brutal disease.
We are reaching out to all of Ali's friends and in particular the Australian Blues Music community, as she has contributed so much to it over the last 35 years.
We hope that this fundraiser can ease the financial burden that both Ali and Dave are about to face and give them some breathing space to not worry about anything that they may need over the next 6-12 months.

This is a COVID safe event.
