This no-cost, in-person workshop is part of the 2024 City of Whittlesea's Sustainable Communities Workshop Series.

In this workshop, educator Maria Ciavarella from My Green Garden will cover the theory of preserving and curing green and black olives before the group breaks to do some cooking in the kitchen. Six different methods will be used and participants will receive extensive notes and recipes. Each person will take home one jar of olives.

Due to class size limitations, the workshop will be capped around 50 people. We have had some cancellations so please register if you'd like to attend as we have more spaces.

Please bring:

a plastic cutting board
a small paring knife
an empty beer stubby or similar small glass bottle with a concave base
an empty container to take home jars of olives that will cure later in water themselves
an apron (or wear old clothes you don't mind possibly getting olive juice on)

Please also bring a reusable water bottle or mug since we have limited dishware at the centre.

Snacks will be provided.

This workshop is for those aged 18+.

Registration is required.

The CoW Sustainable Communities Workshop Series aims to up-skill City of Whittlesea community members in the art of sustainable, climate-resilient living and community-building.

Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to be entered into a prize drawing at the series' end. Every workshop participant will also receive a certificate of recognition for their participation and have the opportunity to share their learnings and creations at the celebration showcase in November 2024.
