Event description
In the early hours of 6 February a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck southeast Turkey and the Syrian border. The death toll currently stands at nearly 44,000 people. The Australian Red Cross has launched an emergency appeal for funds to support the Turkish Red Crescent and the Syrian Red Crescent to provide emergency assistance, tents, blankets, food, clean water, hygiene products, sanitation facilities and health services for those affected.
