PANEL: Picture Book Creators and their Process
Description
Calling all teachers, librarians, parents, creatives, and picture book enthusiasts! Join the Little Bookroom for an evening focused on the art of picture books, their creators and creation process. Lead by specialist picture book publisher, Miriam Rosenbloom of Scribble Books, and featuring special guests Alison Lester, critcally acclaimed author of Magic Beach, and Zeno Sworder, winner of CBCA's 2026 Picture Book of the Year for his bok Once I was a Giant. The evening will delve into the creation of picture books from first idea to final publication, and explore the artistry and process behind each step of the way.
Tickets are $25 (plus booking fee) which will include a $25 store credit to spend at the event.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS:
Miriam Rosenbloom
Miriam Rosenbloom has been working in publishing for more than a decade, in both Melbourne and London. After working as a Senior Designer for Faber & Faber, in 2011 she took up the role of Art Director at Scribe before launching Scribe’s first picture-book imprint, Scribble, in 2016. Miriam’s ethos and innovative approach to book production are at the heart of Scribble, which focuses on combining meaningful narratives with the best design and production values. Miriam’s success within the children’s book industry has seen her invited as a guest to major literary events such as the Sydney and Melbourne Writers Festivals, and the Melbourne Art Book Fair, which is held at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Alison Lester
Alison Lester is one of Australia's most beloved and bestselling authors and illustrators of children's books. Her stories mix imaginary worlds with everyday life, encouraging children to believe in themselves and celebrate the differences that make them special. Alison has written and illustrated almost 50 books in over 35 years, published in many countries and all of which are still in print today. Her books have received a number of awards and recognition, both in Australia and internationally.
Zeno Sworder
Zeno Sworder is an award-winning writer, artist and children’s book maker living in Melbourne. His most recent book, Once I was a Giant, was the winner of the ABIA Book of the Year and Picture Book of the Year, as well as the winner of CBCA's Picture Book of the Year.
