Trinity College invites you to an evening with guest speakers designed to help parents and carers better understand the roles of allied health professionals who support neurodivergent children and teens. You'll hear from a senior occupational therapist, speech pathologist, and psychologist, each with deep experience working alongside families and schools to promote emotional wellbeing, communication, daily living skills, and learning success.

Through a neuroaffirming and strength-based lens, our speakers will unpack what their profession offers, when it might be helpful, and practical strategies that can support your child’s growth and confidence at home and in the classroom.

This is a FREE adult-focused presentation for parents/guardians and carers only (no students on this occasion).

Tom Burchfield - Occupational Therapist

Tom is a Senior Occupational Therapist and Owner of Tom the Kids OT. He has worked with a range of neurodivergent kids in various public and private settings both in Perth and the UK. His work through Tom the Kids' OT primarily focuses on supporting children with their goals while collaborating closely with their families and school staff. He has special interests in executive functioning, coordination skills and handwriting and is passionate about helping kids achieve their goals in a range of contexts.'

Rachel Loughridge - Speech Pathologist

Rachel is the owner/operator of Sunshine Speech Pathology, has working in the disability sector for 8 years. 2025 Enablement Award Winner [category to be announced]. Rachel has worked closely across a range of ages but finds fulfilment in helping children establish social connections and using assistive technologies.

Session to focus on: broad spectrum of speech supports across middle primary school to upper high school and use of the spoon theory/assertiveness as a communication tool.

Lyndsay Darwent-Hunt - Psychologist

Lyndsay is a Senior Psychologist with 18 years of experience providing psychological services in both primary and high school settings, spanning regional and metropolitan areas. As part of the CEWA Psychology, Safety, and Wellbeing team, Lyndsay specialises in supporting students with diverse needs, including the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD. With a personal perspective shaped by numerous friends and family diagnosed with ADHD, Lyndsay brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her practice.

Committed to fostering the mental health and wellbeing of students, Lyndsay collaborates with educators and families to promote the social, emotional, and academic development of young people in a safe and supportive environment.
