Event description

Join the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) on Sunday, Feb. 22 for a sunset cruise and on-the-water concert featuring Sunny War.

Each Pine Island Sounds ticket directly supports SCCF’s water quality monitoring and research. Tickets include a complimentary drink coupon — courtesy “First Drink’s on Us” sponsors Jack and Janie — and a buffet of light bites. All cruises set sail from McCarthy’s Marina (Captiva Cruises) on Captiva Island.

Sunny War will perform aboard the 65-foot Lady Chadwick from approximately 4:30-6:30 p.m. Guests may board beginning at 4 p.m.

A huge thanks to our partners at Captiva Cruises and the Marcum Giving Fund for making these sunset cruises possible.

About the Artist
Sunny War (a.k.a. Sydney Ward) is an American singer and songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. Her music delivers a vibrant mix of punk and roots, drawing on various genres including rock, gospel, and country.

Following the release of her 2022 breakthrough, "Anarchist Gospel," Sunny spent more and more time on the road, opening for Bonnie Raitt, Mitski, Iron & Wine, and Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, among others.

Her latest album, "Armageddon in a Summer Dress," is a kind of slithering blues, driven by her spidery guitar work and inspired by her experience moving into her late father's house in Chattanooga, which she thought was haunted. In songs that are deeply incisive and keenly imaginative, Sunny ponders the act of crossing boundaries — between worlds, between musical genres, summoning the ghosts of the people she lost, the people she once was, and the people she was not allowed to be.

About Pine Island Sounds
SCCF launched the one-of-a-kind concert series, Pine Island Sounds, in 2019 as a special donor event to support critical research and programs to protect local water quality. It has become an island favorite, and tickets sell quickly!
