Miya Miya Film Club is an independent community-led film and arts initiative dedicated to celebrating and elevating the voices of the South West Asian and North African (SWANA) region. At a time when nuanced representations of SWANA cultures are urgently needed, Miya Miya offers a space where film and art become tools for cultural preservation, connection, and resistance. The name "Miya Miya" translates to "100/100" in Arabic, symbolising excellence and positivity. Each event is a vibrant gathering that brings together storytelling, traditional food and music, and intergenerational dialogue, offering audiences both within and beyond the SWANA diaspora a chance to experience the region’s richness on its own terms.

On Wednesday 21st January 2026, Pink Flamingo Cinema x Miya Miya Film Club present: أنياب (Anyab / Fangs, Egypt, 1981) directed by Mohamed Shebl.

Anyab follows a young couple whose car breaks down on the way to a party; seeking refuge, they enter the mansion of a very familiar Count and from there, the film explodes into a neon-lit fever dream of singing vampires, glam-rock ghouls, slapstick horror, and irresistible 80s kitsch. It’s camp, it’s chaotic, it’s historic, and it’s a cornerstone of Arab cult cinema.

Pink Flamingo Cinema are the champions of the strange, the shimmering, and the unapologetically offbeat. Pink Flamingo celebrates cinema that bites back, films that push against the edges of taste, tradition, and expectation. Together we’re thrilled to bring this legendary slice of Arab pop-horror to our joint home at the Slipway Marrickville at Mothership Studios for one night only.

Slipway Marrickville is the outdoor offering from Mothership Studios with events all summer long in the courtyard you know and love. Capacity is really limited for this one so get your tickets fast! If you do miss out on this one, check out all the other weekly offerings through January from Pink Flamingo Cinema.

There's a licenced bar so grab yourself a drink, a chat with friends old and new, a little boogie to some Arabic disco, and some Egyptian sweets baked by Karim.

Tickets are available via the link in the bio! (ticket prices cover venue, projection hire, film licencing, sweets, and a joint donation to our friends Cairo Takeaway and Mob Strong Mutual Aid Fund)

Miya Miya prides itself on being a hub of safety, inclusivity, and community. Our events are a safe and inclusive space for all peoples, including our SWANA, First Nations, Black, POC, Jewish, and LGBTQIASB+ friends, and we have zero tolerance for harassment of any kind.

No one turned away for lack of funds. Please contact the @miyamiyafilmclub instagram page for ticketing enquiries.
