About the Project:

The past few years have taken a toll on many in the community, affecting mental health, physical well-being, financial stability, and social connections. *Resilience in the Face of Adversity* is a community project and exhibition where 10 artists will interview 100 women to explore the tools, strategies, and resources they have developed to overcome adversity. The aim is to foster community connection, healing, awareness, and education.

Storytelling is one of the most powerful and ancient ways of sharing information, education, wisdom, and inspiration. Although we are all different, we can all relate to facing adversity in our lives. Resilience is not innate; it is developed through life’s challenges, and each of us has valuable wisdom to share. This project offers a wonderful opportunity for a diverse community to come together to learn, share, and connect through stories, knowledge, and wisdom.

The funds raised from this event will go directly toward paying wages and providing resources to make this project a success for our local community. This will ensure that people from all financial backgrounds can participate in activities that promote healing and connection, from creative arts practices to other activities like dance, yoga, singing, women's circles, and breathwork, as well as educational workshops on themes related to resilience. These workshops will run every Saturday for five weeks, coinciding with the exhibition at the Mulgrave Gallery in Cairns, beginning on March 8, 2025, in line with International Women’s Day.
