Meet Petroné Bartels
A Woman of Faith, Hope & Victory
My name is Petroné Bartels, and above everything else, I am a woman whose life is anchored in Jesus Christ.
My faith is not simply something I turn to when life becomes difficult—it is the foundation of who I am. I have never known a day without Jesus holding me and the Holy Spirit guiding me, and through every season of my life, I have seen the faithfulness of God.
In June 2026, my life changed when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Cancer may have become part of my story, but I made a decision very early that it would never become my identity.
I believe we have a choice in how we run the race before us: as a victim or as a victor.
I choose to be victorious.
On 31 July, I began chemotherapy and targeted treatment. The journey has already brought some incredibly difficult days, including hospitalisation, severe headaches, nausea, exhaustion and physical challenges I could never have fully prepared myself for.
But even in those moments, God has remained constant.
During my first treatment, as my hands were placed in freezing cold gloves for 90 minutes, I prayed and held onto the Scripture that has become such a declaration over my journey:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
— Philippians 4:13
This journey has also shown me love in its most beautiful and practical form.
My husband, the love of my life, has cared for me with extraordinary tenderness. He has quietly picked up the pieces when I haven’t been able to—making meals, bringing water and medication, caring for me and simply being there. Watching him love me through this season has made me fall even more deeply in love with him. He is truly one of God’s greatest gifts to me.
I have also been surrounded by family, friends, nurses, doctors, oncology staff and a community whose kindness has reminded me again and again that none of us walks life’s difficult roads alone.
And somehow, even in the middle of cancer, God planted new purpose in my heart.
During my first round of chemotherapy, while resting at home exhausted, the vision for Armor of Hope began to take shape—a faith-inspired adaptive oncology lifestyle brand created to restore dignity, provide comfort, inspire hope and support people walking through cancer.
What could have simply been one of the darkest chapters of my life began producing something beautiful.
That is how I want to live.
I want my journey to remind someone else that there can still be purpose in pain, beauty in difficult seasons, laughter in the middle of tears and hope when the road ahead feels uncertain.
The Pink Ribbon Brunch is another part of that heart.
It is about bringing people together, raising awareness and supporting the fight against breast cancer—but it is also about celebrating life, friendship, community and the incredible strength found when people stand beside one another.
I don’t know every chapter that still lies ahead of me.
But I know Who walks ahead of me.
Cancer does not get the final word over my story.
Faith does.
Hope does.
Love does.
And ultimately, God does.
I will continue running the race set before me—not as a victim, but as a victor.
I am victorious through Christ who strengthens me.
To God be all the glory.
