Calling all historical crime fans! Pip Fioretti is visiting to talk about her second book in the Gus Hawkins Mystery series, Skull River. Using black humour, Fioretti weaves a story that’s both a cracking murder mystery and a razor-sharp portrayal of a country on the verge of transformation. With a professional background in visual arts, Pip will take us on a journey through photographs, paintings, and film stills that inspire her writing.

MEET PIP
Pip Fioretti has a professional background in visual arts, both practice and teaching, and took up writing fiction in 2008. She has had three books published in women’s fiction with Hachette Australia and Pan MacMillan, and during the pandemic she switched to writing historical crime fiction. Her first book in this genre was Bone Lands, published in 2024 by Affirm Press and her second, Skull River was published by Affirm Press in March 2025.
