Pipa Postcards: Sounds of Home

Presented by Jin Sheng Music 金声国乐 and manSHI.

About the concert

The pipa has carried stories for more than two thousand years. In Pipa Postcards: Sounds of Home, we hear it through the lens of today: an ancient voice reimagined in world premiere new works, fresh arrangements, improvisations and collaborations with piano and dizi.

Each piece is a musical postcard, a snapshot of memory, place and the feeling of home, wherever home is for you. Whether you grew up with these sounds or are hearing the pipa for the first time, this is an evening to sit close, listen deeply and feel the music in the room.

What makes it special

- The pipa as you've never heard it, rooted in tradition and speaking a contemporary musical language
