Event description

Welcome to Pitch-O-Rama!

  • A chance pitch for investment
  • Use it as a chance to hone your pitching skills
  • Get feedback to understand how to improve your skills from seasoned experts and investors
  • Refine your presentation and delivery
  • Learn how to "sell" what you do in 2 minutes

What it is
A brief online meeting (15 min) where you can:
• Introduce yourself
• Provide a formal pitch / presentation - max 5 min
• Get immediate and brief feedback

Why?
• A lot of founders just don’t get that much practice to present
• We’re looking for great businesses to join one of our programs towards funding success
• Our investor base is constantly looking for amazing businesses to invest in

Time: 15 min session, held between 1 - 4 PM

Pre-selection
Because at the very most we will only be able to hear 24 pitches and on any given day there are literally 1,000 of startups seeking funding we need to pre-qualify businesses:
• It’s really important people follow https://bizconnector.wufoo.com... and fill in the quiz in detail.
• Pre-selection quiz must be completed one week prior to the Pitch–O–Rama day
• This allows us to know what you’re talking about, and it means you can skip talking about the trivial stuff and get right to the most important elements
• If you have videos please provide a link on the quiz form
• If you have PDF materials (like a deck or IM) that you feel we should see before your presentation, feel free to send to pitch@mycatapult.com.au.

Format
• Your presentation can be formal or informal
• You can present without slides (better) or with slides
• If you have slides, try to limit to 3 slides or less

• We are using Zoom
• The session is recorded
• You will be able to access the waiting room for the session 5 minutes before you start
• Once accepted participants need to make a reservation using the link to Calendly here: https://calendly.com/mycatapul...

Who’s watching?
Mike Boorn Plener, founder of Catapult
• Other investors and experts across a range of fields, depending on the time of your presentation

Tips on how to perform well
• Please be yourself, that is the most important. If you’re a software developer and feel shy don’t try to be a salesperson spruiking. And if you’re a salesperson and don’t know much about the product, don’t pretend.
• Make the take–home memorable

Points to cover
• Traction proven (monetary or otherwise)
• How huge is the market and how will you attack it, tiny bit by tiny bit?
• Why will your business prevail over others?
• Why should an investor (genuinely) invest with you and not another business?
• What’s your ask and how is your valuation defensible?
